Justyna & Steve | Alouette Engagement Portraits

Justyna has been one of my best friends since I was about fourteen.  Fun fact:  We earned our scuba diving certification together while backpacking Thailand.  It was Justyna who really wanted to take the course, and I was so glad we did…..even though my mild claustrophobia sometimes gives me panic attacks under water.  True story.  :D

A few months after I started dating Adam (almost five years ago now), Justyna met Steve.  And I couldn’t have picked anyone better for her.  They are so perfect together, and I am so so so happy that they are getting married next year.

I have a self imposed rule that I won’t photograph anyone’s wedding if they are immediate family or a close friend: basically, if I would normally be invited to your wedding as a guest, I won’t shoot it.  Why?  Because as much as I love my job, at the end of the day, it’s still super exhausting, and it’s still ‘work’.  I love being a guest at weddings too. So I found a few wonderful photographers for Justyna & Steve to meet with, and they chose my lovely friend Lyndsay London.  I am super excited that they have her photographing their wedding day.

BUT that didn’t mean they were getting out of getting in front of my camera.  Here’s a little engagement session we did at Alouette Lake a few weeks ago, with a little surprise (all their idea!) at the end:

The pictures below were our sole reason for shooting at Alouette Lake.  I didn’t have to get in the water, thank goodness.  It was COLD!!!

Yeah… these two are pretty awesome.  :)
